8 Investment’s core has always been an interest and passion for Investment.Investment done in the manner of “value investing” makes the most sense to us. What defines value can be quite broad in definition. In a nutshell, we believe in paying a value-for-money price for an asset. To be successful, we believe in modelling the Best Investors in the World, which includes the likes of Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, Benjamin Graham, Li Ka Shing etc and as our investing and life experiences grow, we incorporate those experiences into our own investing philosophy and practices.
With stocks, where some people are trading their money into the brokers’ pockets, we ask ourselves this question. “Would we buy the stock of the business if the company is a private company?”
There is a difference, in our opinion, between investment and speculation.Although both are bets in their own way, the intention in which the “bets” are placed is quite different. For investment, we make the “bet” with the intention of holding on to the asset which generates cash flow. For speculation, the “bet” is taken with the intention of selling it at a higher price. This is not to say that investors never sell. Investors do sell when the market is crazy (that is, during a super bull run)!
With our investments, we have one main question that we answer. “Are we getting tremendous value for the price that we are paying?”
8 Investment has a separate entity (8 Capital Equities Group) managing private funds (other than our own) for investment purposes. 8 Capital Equities Group is not available and not meant to be a vehicle for public investment. We would like to take this opportunity to stress the following point to our shareholders (who may be looking at this particular webpage!).
We have a very simple rule when it comes to our treatment of our shareholders’ funds. “We will only do with our shareholders’ money what we would do with our own”
